life update

Hard to believe we are already half way through 2021! Although covid is still here, uncertainty of mostly every thing, like travel and even job employment are still high, the year seems to be passing by so quickly.

It’s currently winter where I reside now. Lots of rains so far and cold. Sweater weather and ugg boots mode on. Last time I wrote on this blog was in March. So, what have been happening with my life for the last three months? Not much to be honest. I’m still working 2.5 days and still liking my job. I seem to get my head around excel spreadsheets and word documents pretty good, get a bit faster reading strata plans as well. Sometimes I gotta slow down a bit, because I’d like being occupied/busy at work.

After being a stay at home mum for a while, it’s a big change to go back to work again. Even it’s only for 2.5 days, it’s a big jump for me. Having to get out of my comfort zone and getting familiar again with the rhythm of working environment, in the beginning I felt very nervous. When you work 9 to 5 then after that gotta go home, cook dinner and deal with whatever throws you at home, it’s not always rosy and easy. All I want to do when I get home is to put my feet up and hoping and wishing that the fairy will cook dinner and clean up, etc. But, I have learnt if I’m organised enough and didn’t procrastinate a lot, things actually could get done 😁 Also, when the family is helping out that’s even better. Dinner and clean up are done and dusted as quick as a flash. Then we all can rest and enjoy each other company *wishful thinking* or veg out in front of the telly watching stupid and shallow show but entertaining the soul 😍

Life at home is a bit less drama, a bit I say because I believe there’s always up and down in life. Or at least in our household, there are always something that would make my heart beats a little faster. Both boys already got their P-plate so they can drive themselves to school and/or after school activities. They both are working too. One already owned his car and the other one is in process to getting one. This July school holiday, since we don’t go anywhere, both boys are also working. One is currently working at the sandalwood plantation about 2 hours drive from Perth for the whole school holidays! It’s a big learning curve for him and also the longest he’s away from home….this mama had a teary eyes the day he left for work.

Life is full of surprises, either good ones or bad ones. Just a year ago, I struggled to find a job. I got rejection after rejection. It smashed my confidence and I almost gave up. I felt so stupid and low. But somehow I also believed that one day I would get the job that’s perfect for me and my situation. And I think the time is right. Now that the boys are independent enough, I can pursue my own happiness. Probably not pure happiness, but more to my own purpose/goal perhaps? I feel like now I don’t have to dedicate all my time for my children because they are independent enough to do day to day life by themselves. I have more time to do what I’d like to do. I can contribute a little to our financial situation. And while I’m fit enough to work why not. On the other hand, if you are happy with your world and you don’t really need to work it’s fine too. You are the lucky ones, most people actually prefer not to work but earn lots of money, who doesn’t hey ?? Just make sure you buy lotto every week and win it! 😛

To work or not to work is your own choice. Do whatever make you happy for your life, sanity and soul. If you don’t love what you do, don’t do it because you the one who design a life you love. If you want to work or need to work for whatever reasons, pursue it. The road to get it might be bumpy and long, but don’t give up. When the opportunity comes grab it with both hands. Be assertive and always have “I can do” attitude. When someone offer you a job, take it seriously. Because opportunities don’t often come along, so when they do you have to grab them.

When the door opens and the opportunity comes …… seize it

To my friends and family in Indonesia, please stay safe and healthy during this hard time. Stay home, don’t go out if it’s not necessary and get yourself vaccinated. Look after yourself and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult time. There is always light in the darkness and in the light there is always hope 💙

Stay safe and healthy, Mbak Riaaa.
