fashion fridays: L B D

Pretty sure most of us own at least one LBD aka Little Black Dress, yes? Little black dress in the fashion world is viewed as a long-lasting, stylish and versatile piece of clothing that can be dressed up or down for the day time or evening wear.  In my opinion you can wear little black dress for a decade, especially if it’s in classic style.

But before LBD became so fashionable did you know that in pre-1920 wearing black was a symbol of mourning and respect to the dead, and I think it continues until now.  In 1920 Coco Chanel designed the first LBD and published in Vogue.  It became the trend, freeing women from the corset at that time.  Then in 1930 LBD made its mark as it associates with jazz and ‘rebellious’ behaviour, beaded decoration, loose-fitting, and flapper design became a classic.  Hollywood started to introduce a sexy, edgy dress in 1950 that was perfect for onscreen glamor. Nowadays, LBD is a fashion staple.
